Probiotic v.s. Prebiotic; What's the Difference?

As you may know, there are bacteria on and within our bodies--some of which are helpful, and others harmful. In our gut, there are bacteria that help keep our GI tract healthy, and one popular bacteria that you may be familiar with is Lactobacillus Acidophilus. This bacteria is considered a Probiotic because it is a bacteria that keeps the GI tract healthy by preventing the accumulation of harmful bacteria. Prebiotics, on the other hand, are not bacteria at all; they are actually food (in the form of fibers) for Probiotics.
