Happy National Nutrition Month
Happy National Nutrition Month!
March is National Nutrition Month, sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and this year's theme is "Savor the Flavor of Eating Right."
The goal is to focus on using natural flavors like herbs, spices, plants, peppers and parts of food (like the juice or peel of a lemon) to give your food flavor. Utilizing these natural flavors are helpful in reducing salt use and intake. Various herbs, spices, and plants have also shown to produce therapeutic effects; for instance, research has suggested that garlic may aid in reducing blood pressure in those with high blood pressure.
This month, make it a goal to get creative and savor the flavor of different herbs, spices, and foods!
